What is the fastest way to reset the Domain Admin password with the 'least' complication across the domain ??

We created a new user/account to use, because our admin was 'let go' so we need to secure our network ASAP.

thanks

It's really simple, right click on the Administrator under Programs -> Administrative Tools -> Active Directory Users and Computers and click on reset password. Enter a new password.

Potential Problems you can face:

Some Service (background programs that the server uses to function) may not work, so you need reset their passwords to the new password as well - you will only see this problem when you reboot

Creating a new Administrator account and deleting the old one is not a good option. Usually there will one thing or another that will need this account to be present.

Your best bet - change the password for the Administrator, see if there are any services that depend on this account and change their passwords to the new one. - OK this was a repeat :)

I can post more on how to do that, if you need help with this part.

If it ain't broke, it must be off.
