hi,

In SQL Server 2000, is there any way to reset a jobs status so that in Enterprise Manager --> SQL Server Agent--> Jobs, it will not show the Red X beside the job name?

I've looked at system tables sysjobsteps and sysjobs and sysjobhistory - didn't see any column that seems to relate to this.

Thanks, John

I dont have access to SQL Server at the moment, but you might want to try and run the SQL profiler, ensuring that the you have included all the performance options - i.e. includes showplan etc. Then you can right click a test job and do clear history, this should show you the system proc which is used to clear this up.
If this doesnt work, is it possible that the job history is stored in a log outside of SQL, i.e. like an event log?
My 2 cents

in msdb.dbo.sysjobservers field last_job_outcome, possible values:

3 Execution canceled by user action.
0 Execution failed.
4 Job or job step is executing.
1 Execution succeeded.
5 Unable to determine execution state.

Cheers

Thanks hmckillop and yksvaan,

Yep, the sysjobservers was the one. I changed last_job_outcome to a value of 1 and refreshed the Jobs list. Now it shows as normal (without the X/red background)

(This job had performed all the necessary tasks; it had failed on the last step-Notification)
I just didnt want to see the Failed status until it runs again a month from now. Now I just need to fix that last step.

Thanks again. john
