How to remove the "Automatic Links" dialog box

Hi all,

I have an excel sheet that when opens brings up the dialog box "The workbook you have opened contains automatic links to information in another workbook......to update all links click yes.....keep existing information press no." How can I prevent this from appearing so that no is always the answer??

You can make your selection in the Edit, View menu.

Thanks for the reply Mike.

I should have explained what I want better. I need to keep the links in my workbook, but prevent the pop up message from appearing every time I open excel. I've tried the edit>links method before and it doesn't prevent it from appearing.

Is there another way?

I should explain why - - The excel spreadsheet is opened by a VB program, after the user inputs various pieces of information. I get error messages in the VB program as the links dialog box keeps opening up. I don't have access to amend the VB program, and the excel file does not appear when opened by the VB program, ie it runs in the background somewhere. - hope this better description helps.

The problem with using this option is that it only applies to my PC. For a networked file, other users still get the pop up message.

Why couldn't you use the Edit>Links option? This option effects all users using that file. Using Edit>Links you should be able to choose whether or not you wish to update links and whether or not you wish to prompt.
