When I start up my PC I am getting a message box about something called WINFIXER 2005. I tried running my tools to remove it, but i cant seem to remove it.
How do you remove items from the startup in XP?

Thanks

I use a program called Codestuff Starter
Using this program you can view all the startup programs (and running programs) located in your startup folder and in the registry. The web site explains very well how it work.

Have you run MSCONFIG from the command prompt in XP? That will show you some of the programmes being or attempting to be loaded. Also check the STARTUP GROUP.

Another thought if the above two don't help, what are your operating system specs, have you installed SP2 and been to Windows Updates? If you are still at SP1, clean out your Temporary Internet Files and Stop and Disable the Messenger Service in Services.

You could try your luck on the Support link from this page -
