I was wondering if anyone knew how to get rid of startup items. I have already removed all the junk in the startup folder. Is ther any other way. I have this stupid Quicktime icon near my clock. Thanks

Open msconfig, startups, uncheck Quicktime.
For that matter, simply uninstall Quicktime.

To add to carr's suggestion, any more I use Hijack This for this chore: faq608-4650

You can uncheck the Quicktime line in msconfig. The next time you have any program that use Quicktime, it will put the check back into msconfig and the icon back on the desktop. There is a program called "QuickTime Alternative". Plays all QT files, but doesn't take over your computer.

if you want to keep QuickTime but stop it runing on startup then try adding a character to the path in msconfig, this will render the path as invalid and will stop it running. so it will be irrelevant whether the checkmark is there or now.

not 100% but has worked for me in the past.
