How to reference SQL6.5 tables from SQL2K?

Is there a way to use SQL2K engine to reference tables in a SQL6.5 instance?? How can I run stored procedures??

The idea is to maintain unchanged current code in an application that uses .NET SQL server connections, but make it able to "see" tables and run SPs in SQL6.5.
