Hi,

I did not want it , but I deleted a file called TECHHELP.DBF with the command
"delete file TECHHELP.dbf" from within the command-window in VFP 5.0.

I have not reorganized the harddisk so far - the window paper-basket shows nothing.

Is there a chance to get back TECHHELP.dbf and TECHHELP.fpt (I think that is the memo-base) by using something
like the prior UNDELETE.exe in DOS?

I am really sure that the file is still physically on the hard-disk.
Quick help is required....

thanks

Klaus,
A lot also depends on your OS. While the "old" undelete techniques can work well in Win9x, they won't under NT/2000/XP - especially if the disks are formated NTFS. Backups are always the best way to restore accidently deleted files.

Meanwhile I found a good adress for freeware which even
can undelete files under windows NT NTFS-system.
Some of them allow to retrieve up to 5 files via trial-version.

I will inform you later, whether I had success ...however
here is the address.

Hi, thanks for your advices.

Meanwhile I found out, that the table which I deleted was destroyed by a permanent
defragmentation program. (Which I have not installed by myself but was installed by
the administrator here - btw... I would never have installed a program which runs permanently,
due to this case and also due to performance deterioration for all pc-stations)

Anyway ....when I went to GOOGLE - searching machine I found a lot of FREEWARE
which can restore accidentially deleted files.

To find them please call Google (here it is and then write just both
these words to search:
freeware undelete
---------------------
and you will find a lot of good stuff - especially that program PC Inspector File recovery -
which is unlimited and for free - and can find and judge all deleted files.

Hope that you will never need it, but when.....*ggg
