New program notifications:
Start, Run, regedit

You can remove these balloon pop-ups by adding the following registry keys to the image:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced]
Value Name: EnableBalloonTips
Data Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value)
Value Data: 0 (= disabled, 1 = enabled)

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced]
Value Name: Start_NotifyNewApps
Data Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value)
Value Data: 0 (= no, 1 = yes)

Reference -
Networking:
Open the network connection, Properties, and uncheck the box(es) at the bottom dealing with notifications

Generally:
Right-click the icons displaying notifications, there may be a notification checkmrk;

Right-click the icons displaying notifications, Properties (if exists), and uncheck notifications.

To add on what Bill said or if you dont want it to show up periodly then right click on the notification area go to properties and just disable everything from showing up but im sure you want the time! : )

The registry key EnableBalloonTips will disable the balloon popups from the corner without losing the time.
