How to patch an analog line?

Hi

Fairly new to the CS1000 so excuse the question if it's an obviouse one.

We have a CS1000 and are looking for a wireless conference phone. The one most liked is an analog one, the Soundstation 2W. We have 2x16 port analog cards in the system.

My problem is how to patch down an analog phone if the phone doesn't give you the option to enter a TN etc? I understand I set the analog phone up as a Type 500 and I can see that option in Phonemaster which we use to manage the CS1000 but assuming I set the handset up in Phonemaster where/ how do I set a data point up with that number patched to it?

I don't see any area in the panel with ports directly patched to the phone system so how do I connect a non-IP phone?

your analog port you build the phone on is where you connect to it.

print your analog phone, it will have a tn assigned such as 4 0 3 2

you will go to your MDF, a cable from the back of your system will go to the wall and find the corresponding Tn 4 0 3 2.

From your analog station you would check the jack it is plugged into, whatever it is labelled, or you may need to tone it out.

Then connect a jumper from your 4 0 3 2 to the corresponding jack your analog station is set up for.

Don't take offense to this, but what you want to do is considered Telephony 101. I liken analog and digital phone sytems to a big game of connect the dots (unlike IP phones which you can put anywhere on your network so long as the switches are configured correctly for the proper VLAN's, etc...).

With that - because it sounds like you're very new to the older technology, I would have your vendor do this. You'll learn in time, but you want to do things right the first time, every time. Most vendors are good about showing you how it's done so long as it doesn't take too big a bite out of their service call revenue.
 
None taken :) my problem was I couldn't see any ports patched and as all the phones I've added so far are IP and so don't need to be patched to a specific port I couldn't see how to add an analog line.

On further inspection I see an unlabeled section of one of the patch panels with cables coming from the phone system so I assume that's the analog lines.

Now a bit of trial an error to see what port is what TN

Don't do trial and error on a live system. Call your vendor for some help. Arrange for some training.

From a vendor's perspective, fixing something a customer broke is T&M billing and overtime for us... so by all means, it keeps gas in my boat and beer in my fridge - but do it at you rown risk.

But trying to help you (the customer) in the long run here. The $150 for a quick service call can save you thousands of dollars by having him show you how to do it right.
 
you have a boat and beer in your fridge who do you work for?
