CJG3:
This is good information as I have branch offices in Florida with Sprint dial tone as well as BellSouth. I have been told the same thing about DS from BellSouth but didn't know that about Sprint, good to know!
FYI, Since we are on the DS subject this is one of those that you file in your memory "Just in case"! I had a situation in Texas with SWB/SBC concerning DS that had us chasing the problem for 3 weeks. The problem wasn't in the CO as they verified that all 8 of my loop start lines had DS on them but 5 out of the 8 would hang up in the Flash vmail or if a line was on hold and the holding party would hang up, the call wouldn't release. During that 3rd week of troubleshooting this problem we found that 5 of the 8 lines were on fiber and the building had an old SLC96 remote terminal in the basement and the 3 lines that worked were copper fed. They never figured out why the DS wouldn't work as they swapped out many cards in the RT and we finally had the 5 lines change to copper facilities and the problem was resolved. So if you have issues with DS the CO is one piece of the puzzle but you must consider what type of facilities the lines are riding to prem or with CLECS make sure you account for channel banks or IADs (Integrated Access Devices). Anyway, Just an FYI!
