I have a 800 series router that is connected by ISDN to an ISP. Currently the router is in dial-up mode. I want it to stay connected all the time and can get no help from the ISP folks because they only know Lucent stuff.

Can anybody tell me how/where to set the configuration to stay connected all the time.

Thanks in advance

type "?" at the interface configuration prompt (config-if)#) and see what you get. I work mostly with 3640s' and they have keepalive. not sure about 800 series. "Be all and you'll be to end all.
Life can be a real ball.
State of mind!"

for an 800 series, they use Cisco IOS commands. You should be able to alter the dialer idle timeout . It depends on what you are using to dial out, dialer 1 or BRI interface:
Router(config-if)#dialer idle-timeout 9999999

That should work. I don't have an idsn router near me I can try it out on for sure, but that should be similar to the command you need.

boy i hope you have lots of cash!! you will be charged for the isdn connection even if you dont use it! save some money, get a dsl or cable modem. much cheaper that way. just a thought
