How to move FROM 2000 to 5.5

Is there any way to move Excahnge 2000 mailboxes to a 5.5 Server. My company just merged with a smaller one. They have Exchange 2000. We are not yet ready to deploy 2000 and I want to have only one Exchange server (my 5.5 server).

you could keep you 5.5. just make sure you give the machine a different server name.

I can only show the door, your the one that has to open it !

That's going to be a pain. You could export the mail using EXMERGE and import it into the 5.5 box.

Personally, I'd install the AD connector if I was "forced" to stay with 5.5. You'll find it less of a headache if you just upgrade.

I am being forced to move the mailboxes if at all possible. I would rather just stay AD all the way around but I do not have that option.

Can you point me to an Exmerge document that discusses this? I have searched but can find none that discuss
2000-->5.5.
