I know that PST files on the network cannot be made available offline via the Offline file and folder options in XP

To make this work, is there a Microsoft addon or 3rd party tool anyone can recommend?

Hello There

It is possible to have a pst available off line by using gpedit.msc on the command line.

This also works for access databases.

if you search microsoft they actually have a page that shows you what needs to be done.

good luck

The offline use, is called Offline Folders, in Outlook.
They will create an OST.
In Outlook, click Help, type Offline and all is there.

Thanks for your replies have discovered MS purposely makes PST files not available offline and can be hacked at your own risk to make it available offline

where abouts in the GPEDIT can i find this setting, have loaded the OfficeXP admin template but cannot locate the appropriate setting

marcs41 -> the OST file you are referring to is where you normally have a back end exchange server (no PST at all) and use an OST file to view this exchange Mailbox when offline eg at home etc. I have users who also have their own pst file on the network (containing archived emails)which they would like to make available offline ie it remains on the network and gets backed up but they have an offline copy of it on their laptop etc

thanks to all for your input

Having a 'copy' of a PST which resides on a network is not called Off-Line, sorry.
The only off-line use IS an OST.
If they have a PST, it should reside on the laptop, with a copy on the network, not the other way around.
