Hi there,

Say I defined the header's/footer's logo/format, save it as DOT file & distributed to users.

How can I set the DOT file that
1. user cannot modify the header/footer
2. user can freely type texts within the document & save the file

Many thanks!

Zacca:

This is a great question. In your Word document, start by inserting a continuous section break at the top of the document and then insert another continuous section break at the end. Go to Tools, Protect Document, choose Froms, click on the Sections button and untoggle Section 2.

Try it. Let me know if you need further walk-through or if you'd like me to email you an example. A helpful hint while you are creating this document is to turn on all your coding (paragraph marks, space markers, tab markers, etc. so that you can see where your section breaks are. The average user usually doesn't have this turned on on their end so they wouldn't see any formatting to confuse them. Also recommend assigning a password to the protection for added security.

Hope this helps!
Have a great day!

Thx DPillo, I followed your tips & it works!
Just wondering after the header is protected, "select all" is not available in the rest of the document, is that normal?

Thx again!
