I am finding this to be very frustrating. When I create a report using CR8, save it, run it everything is fine. Now, if I want to add a something to the report, say a field, when the report refreshes I loose all of my design mods and have to basically start over from scratch. Is there a way to get around creating the same report from scratch over and over every time my customer wants to add a new field or make a change?

This is a big headache and any help would be appreciated

Thanks,

Hawk

Hawk,

Could you give a specific example of the problem? You shouldn't 'loose' anything by simply adding a field.

You must be using the Report Expert to create your report.
Indeed, that "expert" recreates your layout everytime you use it.

My advice is to NEVER go back to the Report Expert once you are done with the initial design round with it.

Of course, you still have free access to "safe" portions of it by clicking options such as "Select Expert" and "Change Group Expert".

If I have a report saved with borders (filled with colors), the page setup a specific way....when I add a new field, I have to go back and put in the borders and fill the colors, re-align all the field columns and re-setup the page to the specified way the customer wants. I spen 70% of my time re-doing things when changes need to be made. I can't imagine this product is this in-flexable.

Hope that helps.

Thanks
Hawk

Hawk,

It's not clear if your response above was after you have read my answer. Please clarify.

Cheers,
