I am trying to install Exchange 2000 System manager (only)to a windows 2000 server (SP2; Not a DC). We already have an Exchange 2000 Server running. During installation when I come to the drop down selection (to choose Typical or Custom), It cones out with an error saying some prereqsites are missing. Can some tell me what these prereqsites are or any easy solution to this problem.

I would really appreciate someone's help in this.

Thanks
Viju

Usualy the error messages during installaition of e2k are very clear.
mostly you have forgotten to install smtp or nntp,
or you don't have enough rights on the local machine,
or it is not possible to connect to a dc/gc.

if you only want to install system manager you must have installed the admin-pak of w2k befor (if you are on a normal w2k system).

i hope, you will find the right reason!

I have already installed smtp and nntp and adminpak.msi. Checked all rights. It is still failing at the point where it askes the type of installation.

When I choose Typical..error message is
"Setup encountered an error while checking prerequisites for the component "Microsoft Exchange 2000" 0X80072030 (8240): There is no such object on the server"

When I choose Custom I get
"Microsoft Exchange 2000 has an unknown installation problem"

HELP HELP....
