How to Increase the dialing pause

Hey random question:

how to increase the time/pause before it times out when dialing an outside number

for an example lets say im dialing (803) 45 (and I make a brief pause in dialing) the system after 3 seconds times out and doesnt let me finish dialing the whole number ....how can I increase that pause or is that something that I have to call the provider to do it for me?

I have Norstar Nortel 4.0

I dont think 4.0 allows for adjustment of that timer.
You would need to upgrade to current software version, then it would be under dialing plan.

Use Feature*82 and set to pre-dial. Now you can dial the number on the phone (It shows on the display) then press a line button for the call to go.
