I'm very new to CR. I wanted to be able to print name badges, with each record (person) on a seperate piece of paper. Can I use the "OnFirstRecord" option? If so, how would I go about using it?

Thanks a bunch. SJ Sebastian Jazzer

OnFirstRecord is a function that is "True" on the first record of the report. It is great for conditional page breaks.

If you want each detail record on a seperate page then
1) Suppress all except the details section
2) Set the Details to "New Page After"

It could be worth looking at the label expert for the report if youw ant to print a sheet of lables with names on. Editor and Publisher of Crystal Clear

Thank you! I'll see if I can get that to work. (Of course, I don't what you mean by "supress all except details section." and "set details to page after." But, I shall see if I can get it to work.

Do you perhaps more details on those?

Thanks again, SJ Sebastian Jazzer

In the design window, right click the details section and select "format section". Check the "new page after" checkbox. This is item #2 above.

If you format the other sections of the report, and check the "suppress" checkbox, that is #1 above.

Now if you have done this you will get every record on its own page, plus a blank page at the very end, since every record, including the last one, is set to new page after.

To get rid of the last blank page, format the details section again, and this time click on the "X-2" button to the right of "new page after" and enter the following formula:

Not OnLastRecord

This will supress the last blank page and it give you an idea of how to use OnFirstRecord s your original post asked about.

I didn't explain well enough. What we want is it to print every PERSON on seperate pages. Meaning, one person could have purchased 3 items, so we would want those 3 items printed on one page, and so on for each record/person.

Is that what this procedure does?

Thanks! Sebastian Jazzer

Ok group by person, then right click the group footer, select format section, and set to "new page after" like I mentioned in the previous post.

thanks a bunch for your suggestions. However, it didn't work.
For one thing, there isn't a "group footer." There is only a "Page footer" and a "report footer." And the BOTH have "new page after" already checked (and it's grayed out, so can't be modified.)

Any other ideas?

Create the group by employee like I suggested, and format the group footer to new page after.

If you do not like the group footer and header, suppress them. Software Training and Support for Macola, Crystal Reports and Goldmine

I'm, I just don't know how to create a new group by employee. How does one go about doing that? Sorry, But I'm new at CR!

In the deisgn window, right click any required field, and select insert summary. Make it a count summary, and make the summary by employee.
