We have windows 2000 advance server in our office with about 40 clients in the LAN. I want to know if it is possible to give a flash message on the monitor of some client in the LAN from the Server? Any one who has an edea is requested to advice.
Thanks.

the command is "net send"

using the command prompt type: net send [computer name or username] message

example:

c:\>net send administrator this is a test message

or

c:\>net send workstation1 this is a test message

hope this help!

The client is haveing windows Me.
Thanks

go to windows directory and click on the winpopup.exe file! this is same with win9x clients. the winpopup program is used to send and receive messages from within the network. like a small yahoo messenger.

if your client computer is running winxp or win2k, winpopup is not available so you'll use the net send command.

if you want to load the winpopup during system startup, create a shortcut of the winpopup.exe and place it on the start up folder. located at windows directory/start up/programs...

hope this helps...

i'll be leaving the office so if you have anymore questions, i can answer it tomorrow.
