How to Get Total from SQL NVarchar??

I have an app that has the SQL NVarChar used for numbers so an asterik (*) can be added if the user changes the Amount from the original. How do I calculate the total of that column on the Report. The Right Click>Insert Total will not give me a choice of Sum. Rob

I would suggest trying the running total expert and if that fails, you can also try creating a manual running total (which evaluates later than the expert). Only problem with running totals is that you lose drill down capacity for totals displayed (compared to using the summary option)
