How to get the computer id of the current computer where my program installed?

Go to forum222 and do a forum search on 'computer id' - it's been covered on many occasions in mind-numbing detail

Hello guys, thanks for your reply. I need to get the computer id not the computer name. I know that each computer has a unique computer id.

tnx

My 2 cents is this: I've heard that newer CPU's are supposed to have a unique identity encoded into them, but this is "turned off" by default. I don't think you'd want to mess with that. Also network cards are supposed to have a unique ID associated with them, but I've never heard of an API associated with the ID's. You can use GetSystemInfo to get generalized info about the hardware. GetComputerName will get you the unique computer name on your network.

Regarding the serial number issue on processors...

The unique ID on a NIC? I believe you're referring to the NIC's MAC address.

I think I'll have to go with strongm on this one and agree that there isn't a unique ID associated with every computer.

Hence my earlier comment: <it's been covered on many occasions in mind-numbing detail >
