I have client machines that are required to authenticate with a particular domain controller...is there a way to achieve this? Maybe hardcoding the info in the client's registry?
we recently merged with another department, the latter is ipx/novell based, ours is TCPIP/Microsoft...MS users have moved to a new building which need to authenticate with with a MS DC, we have created another DC which is now located in the other building...so logically our old users should authenticate with the newly installed DC by default, right? For performance reasons, I want to avoid those clients authenticating over the Fiber Optic link.
So now you have two physical sites? Go into Active Directory Site and Service and create a site for the new building. Put the new DC into that site. Make the new DC a global catalog and DNS server. Point your clients in the new building DNS to your new DC and that should take care of your issue.
