Can anyone hepl me with my problem.

How do I find out which user has the workbook opened, by a dialog or mesage box, and then open the workbook and notify me when the workbook can be updated.

Mny thanks.

I believe you've answered your own question.

By Excel default, if someone else has the workbook open when you try to access it you should get a File Reservation message box with stating this workbook is being modified by "Someone" and you should have your choice to open as Read Only, Notify, or Cancel.

Pcfred,
Thanks for reply to my thread.

However, I have not mentioned the file is opened via macro, not manual (ie., file, open).
