How to enhance oracle response time?

Hello everyone;

We are running oracle 8i on Sun server and it seems like the queries run slow.

What are the key enhancement that needs to be done on the server side to improve performance?

Hi Sina
its not easy to answer in a short form.
I would suggest U found out what statspack is and how U use it.
Dont be scared ! its easy to setup and run and gives U performance history and a simple report.

Hi Sina,
Its difficult to answer this question unless I have the following details. There are quite a lot of journals available in Oracle Tuning.
If you could send me the folloiwng I can try to help you with some specific suggestions.

1. THe SQLs, Stored Procs etc. that run slow.
2. The Table DDL.
3. Soem info on the number of records each table will have.
