How to edit a "read only" copy

Forgive the simplistic question. I'm an Access developer who's been given some VB source code to fix.

The person who developed the code put a copy on CD before leaving the company. I've copied the source onto my PC, but when I open it (VB 6), it says "read only" at the top of my code windows.

How can I take this copy and create a version to edit? I've tried saving it as a new VB project, but I get the same result.

Because you copied the files form a CD, the default attribute is read-only. Close the project, open an explorer window, go to the project directory, right click on the files and uncheck the read-only box. Good Luck

When you copy from a CD it sets the attibute of the new files as read-only as well. Just go to the directory of the copied files, select all the files, right-click, properties, and uncheck the read-only box.
