How to edit a movie clib symbol 1

New to Flash and just took over someone's Flash site. There's a symbol that I can see in the library that I think contains a mailto e-mail address typo I'm looking for. In the library dialogue there's a symbol that looks like the one I want but when I click edit in the symbol's properties dialogue box nothing happens. Is there a way to find where these movie clip symbols are located to edit them by themselves?

Have you tried to double-click it in the Library?

Yup. Tried double clicking it, opening up it's properties dialogue box and hitting the edit button - nada.
