We have someone who keeps a lot of voicmails they currently have 254 new messages (as per Phone Manager). I've been asked to either dump all their voicemails and possibly limit so they can only have 40-50 messages.

I've looked through the VoiceMail Pro Client -> Users and it shows me the users mail box has 219.963MB of messages 499 New.

1. Can I dump his messages remotely? or do I have to get into the phone and manually dump them one by one?

2. Can I limit how many messages this user can maintain?

PS: I.P. Office 5.0 (22) with Voice Mail Pro.

Are you really sure, 254 is a suspicious number of the same ilk as 65536.

Within the vmpro client press F9
Then set the time that vm messages are stored.
Problem solved.

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Right at the Phone it reports 499 new messages, Phone Manager Pro Reports 254, that could be a bug in Phone Manager pro.

How do I quickly dump all the messages?

And how do I limit the user from accumulating that many messages?

@tlpeter: if I change the time VM Messages are stored that would be a global setting wouldnt it?

Yea it will be.
But a voicemail needs to be listened too and taken care of.
This means it then can be deleted.

@tlpeter: I understand your point, which would be the same as people shouldn't drink and drive but they still do.

How do I dump all the current 499 messages?

You can set age limits for new and saved messages if you really want. But that affects everyone.

Just get HR to leave a new message "Verbal warning. Clear your mailbox or clear your desk".

what OS is VMP on?

if server 2Kx, set a quota on the users mail box folder and set the MB limit quite low. once reached VM just wont be able to leave any more messages.

@sizbut: Yeah I was hoping there was another way.

Ok... so to sum it up.

1. Looks like I have to delete all 499 messages manually.

2. I would have to enable the auto delete function but thats something I'll have to check with management.

just delete the users mail box folder on the server and restart the VM Pro service. job done.

Indeed, go here on the VM server C:\Program Files\Avaya\IP Office\VM Pro\VM\Accounts and delete the folder with that users name then restart the VM service(s) :)

I have a customer who dont seem to listen to voicemails and so have completely filled their embedded voicemail card up (its the old CF type one). The total number of messages is approximately 1500 spanning back about 15 months.

One thing I have noticed is 254 seems to be the maximum that one mailbox can store - or at least thats the most SSA reports for any one mailbox.

The whole CF card full with messages :)

For Voicemail Pro 5.0 and higher, you can just use the client to clear a mailbox. Click on Users in the navigation tree and then right-click on the mailbox in question. Also much more useful mailbox reporting than SSA or Phone Manager.

I have the same thing Pepp. The first time it happened i went in and cleared them through the DTE port. The second time it happened i showed them how to press delete...

fo shizzle ma nizzle.

Tom - I cant use the DTE port on this one as it is in Lagos, so I have told them to either tell their staff to play their voicemails and delete them, or remove the card and delete the files using a card reader. Been a couple of months now and the voicemail is still full.
