Sep 22, 2005 #4 paulovey Technical User Jul 13, 2000 458 GB Hi Grofaty, The "$" share means its hidden from your every day to day user . you are looking at the admin share of the windows folder on that PC. All pcs, well win 2000 and up have the admin share on the c drive c$. So doing start run and typing in \\pcname\c$ will give you full admin access to the c drive on that pc, if you have the admin password of course. If aint broken, dont try n fix it!!!!! Can I delete this shares? Will Windows still work after deleting this shares? So is it save to delete or not? What is your suggestion? Thanks, Grofaty Upvote 0 Downvote

Sep 23, 2005 #7 paulovey Technical User Jul 13, 2000 458 GB Hi, The admin share is a way of allowing the sys admins full access to the important areas of your pc. Looking at the useful link linney posted, there I can see no adverse effect on removing the admin shares. But why would want to do this, I have never had any reason, or even wanted to remove the admin shares. Paul If aint broken, dont try n fix it!!!!! Upvote 0 Downvote
