Hi,

Is there any command or tool to get all shared folders in my computer?

Thanks,
Grofaty

MarkhP,
it works fine thanks.

One more question. What is the following share:

Share name Resource Remark
---------------------------------------------------------
ADMIN$ C:\WINDOWS Remote Admin

Thanks,
Grofaty

Hi Grofaty,

The "$" share means its hidden from your every day to day user
.

you are looking at the admin share of the windows folder on that PC.

All pcs, well win 2000 and up have the admin share on the c drive c$.

So doing start run and typing in \\pcname\c$ will give you full admin access to the c drive on that pc, if you have the admin password of course.

If aint broken, dont try n fix it!!!!!

Hi,

what is the purpose of the admin shares if this shares are on my personal computer (Windows XP sp2) and I am the only admin on system?

Can I delete this shares? Will Windows still work after deleting this shares? So is it save to delete or not? What is your suggestion?

Thanks,
Grofaty

Hi,

The admin share is a way of allowing the sys admins full access to the important areas of your pc.

Looking at the useful link linney posted, there I can see no adverse effect on removing the admin shares.

But why would want to do this, I have never had any reason, or even wanted to remove the admin shares.
