what is the steps/command to run to demote a win2k server
that is a BDC to a member server ?
were going to wipe the server and reuse elsewhere

thanks

just take the server offline and delete the machine account since you are gonna reuse it and wipe the drive anyway. The important thing is that the account is deleted so it is no longer used as an authenication server.

There is no such thing as a BDC in a Windows2000 environment. If you have a server that is a domain controller in a Windows2000 environment than you run the "DCPROMO" command to demote to a "Member Server".

yeah,i just use "BDC" i mean DC, so Dcpromo
no options/switches ?

thanks gang

No switches....Just follow the insructions on the screen which will guide you through to demoting to a Member Server.

just curious, but can't you have BDC's if you running in mixed mode? never tried it.

they may all be DC's, but nobody told the fismo roles :)

Yes you can but he was originally asking how to demote a Windows 2000 BDC. You can have NT4 BDC's in a mixed Windows2000 environment.

tx zoeythecat! hope I never run into that! good to know it's doable though.
