How to create rotating text round a sphere effect

I am totally new to Flash, and would like to create the above effect, such that the text rotates round a sphere, diappears round the back and reappears on the opposite side. I tried to do this in Paintshop Pro and PhotoShop but it was apparently quite tricky. Is there a way I can do this is Flash?

Kind of like the 'UNIVERSAL' globe thing at the beginning of movies?...or do you perhaps want the text to stay facing the same way but just circling around a sphere?

Yes, you can do it in flash, it would basically require some tweening and sorting of layers...I'll try to post a fla of me trying to do it...=P Either that, or old can help you... Regards,

Of course, you could also use Flax, Swish or even Swift 3D... But that implies an other software!

Also that universal.swf, doesn't incorporate MULTIPLE letters, it was just a quick example that it can be done in 5 mins or less...Old, do you have any way like, in actionscript to perhaps change the layer something is on while animating?...like say I just animate my letters to cross that sphere, and on the frame where my first letter just passes the sphere, put it back a layer?...so I could do multiple letters, etc? Luke,
First, I'm no MOD! And I've never flagged anybody (except once! Obvious SPAM!), how offensive the posts might of been. And some of them, towards me, were what I would call very offensive! Although I believe really offensive posts (certainely not the ones you have flagged!) should be deleted, I also believe in freedom of speech and strongly dissagree with this management's policy of deleting any post that has been flagged... Just because it was, and not judging for one second, if was pertinent to do so or not! They claim they don't have time to do so, but curiously they have a lot of time, around a private table, to laugh (kind way of putting it!) about us poor slobs that, in the end, make up their reputation.
Hope you read this before they decide to edit out the above!

As for your links, they all seem to work for me, except the BabyJeep.jpg... Where I get a 404.
Don't really understand your question about layers... But you could add some perspective on your letter (making the letter bigger when it's in front and smaller when it's in the back), it would complete the illusion!

As for your last link, the artwork, nice but a little messy! A lot of shifts on one particular layer! Were you typing too fast again?

yay, my computer likes the site now...I'm now on my home computer (at home of course!)...and nice lil extras there old...Hmmm...babyjeep not working...could you try perhaps making letters all lowercase, etc?...I think perhaps it's not picking up the correct naming or something. Regards,

when I asked about it, I ment for multiple letters...if you looked at the FLA you might notice I did it VERy fast and VERY crude...I'm thinking I need some actionscript to move the layers back behind the sphere. Regards,
