Hi! I've tried using WinSTLE to make msi's to package driver updates, and program installations (unattended ones), however, they never seem to work. Does anyone have any other advice? How do you make msi's that, uh, work:)? Thanks guys, any advice would be greatly appreciated

Hi, I've already done a lot of work on MSI packages and all I can say is OUCH!!! Some programs works, some don't. Some works when you assign to computers but wont when assigned to users and vice versa.
My advice: try all possibilities.

Presently I manage 12 applications with Group policy and it works pretty good.

Programs that works better are ones that already have .msi extension (Office 2000, virus scan, File Maker, Acrobat Reader...). Some of those have add-ons programs to create customs msi files (office 2000 ressource kit, Mcafee designer).

Good luck! [smile]

Some more important tips when creating .msi files. Make sure you have a clean Windows installation each time you scan your computer with Wininstall LE. Have an image on a network drive to quickly restore your computer to his clean state. Some programs might modify registry or folders on your hard disk that the scan won't add in the .msi.
Create test OUs (1 by application) with 1 user in each OU. It'll make your tests a lot easier.
