I have an old server running novell netware 5. Not much of a novell guy however a client of mine has this old server that they have not used since their upgrade to windows which was about a 1 or so ago. No one remembers any passwords to it so I was wondering if their is anyway I can a create a new user on the server. There must be a utility that you can run on the server rather than using the client admin stuff. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Unlike Windows, NetWare is a SERVER. You run admin tools from a Client. Use NetWare Administrator located at SYS
UBLIC\WIN32\NWADMN32.EXE. If you can't get into the system due to lost passwords, there are utilties you can get to reset passwords at the server. One is called SETPWD.NLM and can be used to reset the Admin password.
BTW, How do you call a move to Windblows an 'Upgrade'?

Why has novell not created a desktop os and if 90% of the market used novell they would have everyone going after them (virues, etc). If you used windows you would realize that it doesn't blow. I can setup a whole network, server and clients with just several clicks and it just plain works. I have over 150 + networks with windows servers and desktop and they just plain run. I love macs to add, but I certainly do love novell.

I use Windows (servers), which I mostly need to reboot once a week/fortnight (if they don't fall over first).
I use NetWare, which I mostly need to power down for my annual electrical safety test.
Not quite sure why you're replying like this to a guy who's trying to help you.

comment as a low blow. I guess novell and windows users are like democrats and republicans. The two are jsut never going to see eye to eye
And in all honesty the reboot windows servers thing I'll give you with NT.

It wasn't really a low blow. I hate Windows. I've seen both sides, and I prefer NetWare. Windows sucks. The file system sucks. The permissions suck. The security sucks. The way files are shared sucks. The Groups suck. The clunky administrative interface sucks. The Windows client is totally featureless and sucks. The printing system and entire printing structure sucks. Windows Clustering Sucks. Active Directory is crap. It sucks. Having to reboot the server every week sucks. Having to reinstall Windows anytime there is a problem sucks. When a company runs Windows, and they get shut down for 3 days every 6 months because of the newest virus/worm, that sucks. When a Windows server gets compromised and starts sending out 40,000 spam an hour, that sucks. When you migrate to Windows and start having to do everything manually again, that sucks.
Almost anything that you can do with Windows, I can do better with NetWare. Yes I know that windows is a better application server.. but that's it. That's the ONE thing that Novell never got right. Hopefully they will get some respect in that area with Linux. On the flipside, MS doesn't have anything that comes close to what ZENworks can do when it comes to managing workstations. So that makes up for it.
I'm not trying to start a pissing match over Novell vs. Windows. But I know Windows and I know NetWare. And when I have to support Windows systems, I feel like my head is going to explode. Windows does everything backwards. They add 10 extra steps to accomplish one thing. Point and click? Maybe. Point and click and then reinstall the system from scratch 3 more times - probably.
In my book, anybody that moves to Windows is downgrading their technology by about 10 years.
By the way, back to your original question.. There's another utility called ADMINADD (or something like that).. if you totally lost your admin user, you can use this tool to get an admin user back. should be able to find it on a google search.
