How to create a total using 12 seperate fields in a table

hi<br>&nbsp;i am trying to create a'totals' field based on 12 preceding fields in the same table. what is the easiest way to do this? <br><br>TIA

It depends on why and how you are doing it.&nbsp;&nbsp;If you just want to total the fields, add a field to the table called fldTotals, and run an update query that sums all the fields and updates the fldTotals field with that sum.&nbsp;&nbsp;If you are in a different situation, please provide more info.<br> <p>-Chopper<br><a href=mailto:kenneth.mai@exch.compass-usa.com>kenneth.mai@exch.compass-usa.com</a><br><a href= > </a><br>

Chopper<br><br>thanks for your prompt reply. i have a seperate filed for a currency value for each month of the year, these will be updatedon a sequential monthly basis, i want to produce a running total value in a seperate filed in the same table. <br><br>i am&nbsp;&nbsp;webdesigner by trade and trying to get into database driven sites, although this database will not be on the web i am trying to get my head round databases generally - eventually want ot use Access with ColdFusion. <br><br>Notice you are a a member of Dreamweaver user group - i have to say one of the friendliest forums i have used.<br><br>Alex
