Hi,

I would like to create programatically a shortcut for a new (selfmade) FoxPro.EXE on desktop during/after setup. Any idea where I could find this code?

Thanks,

Koen

Hey there Koen--

The MS support site provides a .prg that uses a VB .dll. The site says they include a readme.txt, but i don't see one when i unpack the files! but the .prg looks pretty simple to use.. just replace the filename and the app name with your own, then run the .prg as a post-setup executable. enjoy! :)

PS.- You can get to the article by searching for "create desktop shortcut" in the visual foxpro knowledgebase at .

You might want to try a completely free installation program named Inno Setup. You can download it from
I have used it in applications I have written and it works very nicely. It has professional looking installation screens, and allows you to control virtually everything about an installation, including putting a shortcut on the desktop. You do not have to learn any code. The sample script and included help screens give you all you need to write your own scripts. It took me about 1 hour to read the manual and write my own script.
