in a form, i want to create a list whose length isn't static. i have a table field with a bunch of dates, and need to create a list in a form with the number of fields depending on how many dates in the table field have the same day as the current day. thank you much, in advance.

Just to be clear, do you mean the number of items (rows) varies or the number of fields (columns) varies?
If the number of rows varies, the problem is trivial. Create a query that selects the rows from the tables that meet your criteria. Set the row source of the list box = query.
If the number of columns varies then the problem becomes a little more challenging. Terry
