How to create a chart??

Do I have to create a measure in order to have a chart on a form? I have all the data I need on the form (comprised of data taken from 4 columns of a databse) but when I go to create a chart I get the following error Unable to turn to chart (rpt0001).

Yha, to display data in a chart you need at least one measure variable and one dimension or detail variable.
