Dear all:
I have bought a new version of 2005 and how can I do the conversion of database from 7 to 2005. Since I have many Companies defined on my database, should I need to do it one by one or it must be performed by Consultant from Peachtree? Beside, my package is 2005 and it is the version with 5 users ? Since I can't find any indication of "Value pack" within the box-set, if not what can I do then, please advise?

1. MAKE A COPY OF YOUR PEACHTREE DIRECTORY STRUCTURE BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING! Peachtree will prompt to do backups, but do it anyways.

2. Peachtree will need to make a few conversions on your data (i.e. from 7 to 8, 8 to 9, 9 to 10, etc...), to "step up" one at a time. Each company will go through this process, not fun...

3. So what you're going to do is load Peachtree on your fastest computer. Copy the data down to that computer (don't do over the network, too slow). Once Peachtree is installed, do a File>Open Company. Pick one. It will start converting. Note a single company can take hours.

4. When one is done, you're going to copy that Peachtree data directory back up to the network (if the original was on a mapped location, say f:\peachw, rename it to f:\peachorg, so when you copy it back up, it doesn't overwrite the original). Test printing, reports, verify stuff is where it should be and is working. If it looks good, go upgrade the rest of the companies that you have. And copy up the complete upgraded structure when done.

Again, each could take anywhere from 1 to several hours, depending on size. May want to do it after bulk of work has been done for the week, or on a weekend.

Please always take the time to backup any and all data before performing any actions suggested for ANY problem, regardless of how minor a change it might seem. Also test the backup to make sure it is intact.

Dear mattjurado :
THx for your information and do you got any idea about my peachtree version since it doesn't have any indication that is Value Pack with 5 user license. The retailer said that it is for 5 users and I need to confirm it before return it to shop. Thx a lots

Should say on the box I would think, if it doesn't, I would call the retailer back before you open it. Even if you already opened it, they told you it was 5 users. If its not, that's their problem. You can also search the internet or peachtree.com for pricing info. If you paid a hundred bucks, it probably isn't for 5 users.
