Is there a cmd line that can be used to close Outlook. I am running a silent upgrade to a program and it will not work if Outlook is open.

Also is there a way to close other MS Office programs in the same manner, eg Word, Excel.

1 option: Download PSTools and use PSKill to kill Outlook if it is running.

Syntax is "pskill Outlook"

This will kill all running instances, but will not exit cleanly.

Cheers,
Sam

Thanks, for that but I was hoping there would be a way to cleanly exit Outlook and other MS Office apps. My staff may have unsaved items open and killing the app is not the best approach.

That works great, programs close cleanly and if there is unsaved data in Excel it prompts for a save :).. only thing is the save dialog box appears behind the program window not in front...

Is there a way to for the VB script to wait until the app is closed before running the remainder of the script... ??maybe some kind of IF statement that checks to see if the app is still running..?? then send a msgbox if it is still open..??
