Hi there,

For some reasons I got remote users in which their computers never logon to domain. They only need to authen when access exch2003 email system via outlook2003 or owa2003.

In this case, except administrator notifying users, how those remote users can check their password expiry date, when their computers never logon to domain?

Many thanks!

create amail enabled disabled useraccount in active directory for people who only need to access the axchange server, set password never expire.

Sorry disabled wont work in your situation cause they have mailboxes in the exchange organisation so password never expires would be an option ill guess.

hi lars,

thx for your comments, the problem is, my company has another mandatory rule that all users must change password for every 3 months, that's why i had this headache for those remote users

now i need to manually query each of them, then notify them 1 by 1

any tricks can simplify my life?

You need to setup an Identity Integration Server 2003.

Extranet users do not have this convenience. The CTL+ALT+DEL password change will not change their passwords, because they are not connected to the intranet and cannot establish a direct connection to a domain controller. In addition, extranet users are not notified by a domain controller when their passwords are about to expire. So while this does not circumvent the account policies that are in place, extranet users run a significant risk of having their accounts disabled due to password expiration without any way to change those passwords.

There are two significant components to this solution: password management and password expiration notification. Although these components are separate and technologically unrelated, they each provide part of the overall Contoso extranet solution.

Note: For additional information about the MIIS 2003 Password Management feature that provides Help desk password reset and user password change capabilities, refer to the MMS_2003_Password_Management.doc in the Password Management folder on the MIIS 2003 installation CD.
