We have SBC (Pac Bell) DIDs coming in on ISDN PRI circuits. When a caller calls one of our DIDs, is the ring sound heard by the caller generated by SBC or by my S8700?

I ask because I wish to change the ring sound to be two short rings, more like what you hear when you call this number: 1 (310) 407-4087.

Anyone know how to do this?

Thanks,
Bill

Oops ... wrong number ... meant 310-407-7087.

Hi All,

my customer have Definity si rel 6 system.
the modem configuration for remote access is configured for internal modem.
when the line is coonected to the system\, the line is always busy, and i think the interface on the system is bad.
i want to know if someone has this problem in the past, and also where is the internal modem card ?
thaks for your response.

BHodgins,

the easiest way for you would be to record wanted tone, make it an announcement on your s8700 and then create simple vector that answers incoming calls for this numbers immediately and then does something like 'wait-time x hearing y' where y is your announcement extension. the only problem here is that this would be recorded announcement so it has some length. alternatively you can set up some device that would generate needed tone, connect it to some analog extension just like ordinary music on hold source and create 'continuous music' announcement.

Thanks -- but this won't work ... I mean, the phone needs to be ringing for real when hitting the DID instead of doing some fancy vdn/vectoring stuff.

I had assumed the ringing sounds might be in the country settings? Anyone?

Bill

BHodgins,

first of all, you can queue this call to some real phone, it will start ringing and _then_ you can do wait-time. and second, indeed you can change ringback tone in country options, but be warned that this setting is system-wide in older switches (r11 and less) and at least location-wide for newer switches, including r12. are you ready that not only external callers but every user will hear this changed tone?

I might be okay with that -- I want to at least play with it a little bit. Thanks!
