How can i change the tape Serial # in ARCserve 9.01?

We use a 36 slot tape library and whilst testing Rotation Schemes some tapes got a new Serial # that i now want to change back to the original # ie. currently the first 30 tapes are correctly numbered as follows:
000001L2
000002L2
000003L2
..etc..etc..
000029L2
000030L2
BUT the last 6 tapes are numbered as follows:
1000001 <- needs to be 000031L2
1000002 <- needs to be 000032L2
1000003 <- needs to be 000033L2
1000004 <- needs to be 000034L2
1000005 <- needs to be 000035L2
1000006 <- needs to be 000036L2

What is the correct way of doing this?

Thank you very much in advance!

You can't change the serial numbers for those tapes now.

as I know, you can only set a start point for rotation job via formating media.

I just found out an old post and possibly a solution for my problem from davidmichel as follows:

"Do a Quick Erase Plus on the tape,
go into the database and delete the tape,
stop the Tape Engine,
start the Tape Engine,

Now when the Tape Engine starts again it will get the inventory from the library. Because the tape is blank and there is no record of the tape in the database an entry will be created in the registry under TapeEngine\Barcode. Then when the tape is next used it will be given a serial number matching the barcode which is recorded in that registry entry."

I have just tested it halfway and now just waiting what happens next time the tape is used, hopefully it will get the serial number matching the barcode as described above, next time the tape is used.

That only holds true if you are using barcodes. When using barcodes the serial # should always = the barcode. If the tape was used without a barcode or the barcode was changed the above proceedure will work to set the serial # = to the new barcode.
