How to change default directory of My Documents 3

hi good day!

i have 2 partitions drive C: and D: and would like to save all documents on d:\Documents how can i change the default location of the folder thanks in advance.

i have done this in win98 using tweak-ui program.
any input will appreciate.

Just right click on the my documents folder and in the box that appears change the target to whereever you want it to be

I know this works in XP but not 100% sure that its 2k, give it a try though

Yes, that will also work in Windows 2000. However, all of your other profile data such as your temporary internet files and such will remain on the other drive.

If you want to move the whole tree (usually C:\Documents and Settings) you can by editing the registry.

Copy the contents of 'C:\Documents and Settings' over to the new drive, and edit the following in the registry (if you don't know what you are doing when editing the registry, I recommend you don't do this):

1. Start registry editor
2. Browse to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList
3. Edit the ProfilesDirectory key and change it to where you have moved the profiles to.

Be careful when you try this.
