How to ceate trust between Parent and Child domain in W2K

I have just installed a windows 2000 server as Parent domain with name gst1 in the domain gstdom.com. I have created 2 sites namely Site1 and Site2. The server gst1 is in Site1. I have installed another server gst2 to be a child domain and its in Site2.

I tried to log on to the domain gstdom via a W2K client with a username created on gst1. That was successful.

I tried to map to a drive on gst1. It was successful. I then tried to map to a drive on gst2, but failed with the error "Logon failure, the target account name is incorrect".

How can I get the server gst2 in Site2 to authenticate users created on gst1 in Site1. How can I create a trust between the 2 sites?

Have you created the child domain on gst2 yet? When you create a child domain using dcpromo, the parent child two-way trust relationships are automatically created.

I choose the child domain option during the installation. Do I have to run DCPromo still?
