How can I use DTS To Automate a Backup of a specific database every nite

If that is the case, you could create a job that has the backup syntax/commands. Disable the job so it does not run automatically. Then in your DTS package create a SQL Task that executes the job when you need to. The task would look something like ...

EXEC MSDB..sp_start_job @job_name = 'My Backup Job'
