How to Back Up OE6

To backup mail folders,Outlook help says do: file->folder->compact->copy. Copy is not selectable, neither by right clicking the folder nor on the edit menue. one option is to export to folder I create. but is there a way to compact first. I assume compacting my 74 folder/subfolders will save space on the Backup CD.

Microsoft was not informative at their site I dont understand why.

Your help is appreciated.
