Okies, I am just getting into VLAN's using a VTP Domain setup between Cisco switches. I have a Cisco Cat 5002 and a 1924-EN switch. Both are connected to each other with a single trunk port (ISL) which is up and running. I have also setup VTP on the 5002, as a server, running VTP v1. I have subsequently setup the 1924-EN as a VTP client. The client switch is successfully receiving all the VTP updates from the VTP server. However, I am confused, although the VLAN's are syncronised ok, how can I assign a specific port on the switch to a VLAN on the VTP domain? When in Client mode (the 1924-EN), it will not let me amend, add or delete any VLAN config).... at the moment the 1924-EN is configured with all ports within the VLAN 1 group, but I am unsure how to change this as all attempts have failed.
Another issue is that I have noticed a few errors with the VTP statistics on the VTP client (the 1924-EN);
Configuration Errors:
Revision Errors 8
Digest Errors 0
The revision errors dont appear to be affecting the VTP propogation though, but I would like to know what could be causing it. The 1924-EN supports VTP pruning, which is currently enabled. Both switches are also running VTP v1 (the 1924-EN does not appear to support VTP v2).
Any ideas or have I got completely the wrong end of the stick?
