how to assign data from table to a variable?

I need to assign a data value from a dataset/dataadapter to a variable, or can I check if dataset returned any values?

What method are you using to connect to your database?

There are so many different ways to do it that it is hard to answer this question without more specific details.

OK, I just figured out a way. I am using datareader. It works just like I need it.
