Hi,

Can anyone know how to install a printer on a WinNT4.0 Server by TCPIP. By that I mean, like in Win 2000, how we can assign an IP address as the printer port, then share this printer with other users.

I have the MS TCPIP printing component installed on my server. But there doesn`t seem to be an option to assign a standard TCPIP port for a printer. Although I can choose HP JetDirect ports and others, my printer is a Xerox one. I just have the printer driver, no software to create a port as such.

Why can`t I simply type in the IP address on the printer then designate the driver file like in Win 2000?
Any info much appreciated.

Danny

yes it is. It has been assigned a fixed ip address, subnet etc. I have a Win 2000 Pro workstation in my network and I can easily install the printer on that computer, but I really want to install it on the server (which is NT4), and share it with other users.
