I can't seem to fing any way to center a text box in the center of the report. I normally put my report titles there.

A right click doesn't seem to have it, nor does Format.

Is there a way to do this?

Thanks.

You can position the text object on the left side of the report, stretch the right side of the text object to the right side of the report, and then center align the text inside.

Another trick is to determine the page width using the ruler. Then determine the width of the text object by measuring it against the ruler. Subtract the 2 and divide the result by 2. This should give you the point on the ruler to position the left side of the text object.

Page width is 8 inches.
Text oject width is 3 inches.
Subtract the 2 and get 5 inches.
Divide 5 by 2 and get 2.5 inches.
Position the text object's left side at the 2.5 inch mark on the top ruler.

Thanks.

Geez, that's a lot of work for me that should be done automatically somehow. Where's the new technology here? <g>

Tony,

Brian's first solution:

You can position the text object on the left side of the report, stretch the right side of the text object to the right side of the report, and then center align the text inside.

...is extremely simple to implement (*), though one I had not thought of...

The only problem with that is that all of my reports also have the date, time, title, and page number on the same line.

Since I'm coming from FoxPro, where I've developed hundreds of reports, and which automacially can center an object to the center of the page, I have to convert many of those reports into Crystal, and I really can't change the look of them.

Maybe there is a macro that can be developed, or maybe the CR people can put in such a simple thing. Is there a wishlist?

In the meantime, I'll just do it by eye. Which, though old, is still good. <g>

Tony,

The text boxes can overlay each other.

Ah...

Thanks.

You may already be aware of this one, but this works well with 'special fields' (which are not unique to a specific report).
Once you have the fields the way you want them, you can open another report, select all the fields you want to copy and paste them into a new report; this may save you some time.
