Hi all,

Octel 200 Serenade 4.

How can I add/see/modify logins for other system administrators?
Thanks.

smetse

There is only one 'admin' login, using the maintenance level password and only one user can log on at any time. Do not lose this password or else your Octel 200 will become an expensive coffee table...........

There is a MAC record kept, but only level 9 Avaya engineers can see this.

Hi Smetse

To initiate a password for logon to the OCTEL 200/300:
@PASS M xxxxxx - MAINT - Maintenance - highest level.
@PASS A yyyyyy - ADMIN - medium level.
@PASS R zzzzzz - REPORT - printing / report level.

No printing is possible!!!

So do NOT forget these passwords.

Added info:

@PASS M xxxxxx - MAINT - Maintenance - highest level gives access to all commands.

@PASS A yyyyyy - ADMIN - medium level gives access to most commands, not the trace- and other high level maintenance commands like @ps etc.

@PASS R zzzzzz - REPORT - printing / report level.
This account will not allow the user to go to Update facility (.-prompt).

jon, doktor, thank you!

I guess I am using a maintenance level password - I can do the @ps command.

jon, you said: "There is only one 'admin' login, using the maintenance level password".

Can I create three ADMIN level passwords for the other system administrators AND keep my MAINT password for me? In other words, can we use four different passwords on the same system (not at the same time of course)?

Hi smetse

Of the mentioned 3 log-in accounts:

@PASS M xxxxxx - MAINT - Maintenance - highest level.
@PASS A yyyyyy - ADMIN - medium level.
@PASS R zzzzzz - REPORT - printing / report level.

only ONE password can be created per account.

So I recommend that the MAINT user is the administrator, and the ADMIN user does the MAC (moves/adds/changes) in the OCTEL system.

Best regards

Hernik, thank you.

As a MAINT user I can modify/change an ADMIN user password.
Can the ADMIN user modify/change the MAINT user's password?

Smetse!

You can always change a log-in account (i.e. password) lower than the account you are logged into, and of course your own account.
So, the MAINT account can change both the MAINT, the ADMIN and the REPORT account.
And the ADMIN account can change both the ADMIN and the REPORT account.
But the REPORT account can only change the REPORT account.
In other words - a lower account cannot change a higher accounts password.
